Vanu's Anywave Base Station Named Product of the Year by Massachusetts Network Communications Council at Annual Awards Ceremony

CAMBRIDGE, MA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 04/18/08 -- Vanu, Inc., a leader in the development of software radio solutions for cellular operators, today announced that the Anywave® Base Station was named Product of the Year at the annual Massachusetts Network Communications Council (MassNetComms) Awards Ceremony. 320 industry leaders attended the celebration, which was held Wednesday night at the Hyatt Regency Cambridge.

MassNetcomms' Product of the Year award is determined by a vote of the MassNetComms membership and recognizes an innovative product, released in 2007.

"Being selected Product of the Year by a vote of our peers is a huge accomplishment for the company," said Dr. Vanu Bose, president and CEO at Vanu, Inc. "Throughout the year Vanu has seen tremendous growth with the opening of an Indian office, an agreement for a trial of shared active infrastructure with GTL and the world's first deployment of a dual standard CDMA and GSM network with Mid-Tex Cellular. We are very pleased to be chosen as Product of the Year by MassNetComms, given the wide array of excellent communications products being produced by Massachusetts companies."

"The Anywave Base Station provides a single platform supporting all wireless standards," added Mark Horan, Executive Director of the Massachusetts Network Communications Council. "By selecting Vanu's Anywave Base Station as the MassNetComms Product of the Year, our members are recognizing this product's importance in the evolution of wireless infrastructure."

About the Anywave Base Station

The Vanu, Inc. Anywave Base Station, uses portable software on industry standard hardware, providing powerful benefits to rural carriers to enable quick and efficient upgrades from 2G radio systems to newer technologies without assuming the large capital and time-to-market costs typically associated with technology overlays. Among its many advantages vs. traditional infrastructure approaches, the Vanu Anywave solution:

-- Supports simultaneous operation of multiple wireless standards in a
    single base station;
-- Uses open standards, off-the-shelf hardware so carriers are not locked
    into a single source of hardware supply and hardware price-performance
    improves over time;
-- Enables carriers to tailor call capacity per cell site, eliminating
    "over buy";
-- Reduces costly site visits and speeds new service deployments; and
-- Always utilizes the latest advances in computing platforms for system
    expansions.

About Vanu, Inc.

Vanu, Inc. (www.vanu.com) is the developer of the Anywave® Base Station, the first U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC)-certified software radio for both CDMA and GSM standards. The Anywave Base Station provides significant advantages over traditional cellular equipment designs including: simultaneous operation of multiple wireless standards on a single platform; the use of general purpose, open standard servers rather than proprietary hardware; remote software downloads to add new wireless standards and system capacity; decreased backhaul costs; and a full range of additional capital and operating cost savings. These benefits come from implementing the signal processing functions of the base station as a high-level, software application running on Linux, eliminating the need for costly, specialized hardware. The company delivers Anywave radio access network solutions, licenses its software, and provides design consulting to service providers, system integrators and wireless OEMs. Founded in 1998, Vanu is based in Cambridge, MA with additional offices in India.
