Not only does the U.S. government implement top security standards for many U.S. corporations, it is also held to the highest degree of security and expected to be virtually indestructible. Thus, government agencies must ensure they have a solid security foundation of backend IT controls, and auditing is critical to an institution's overall security infrastructure.
"With recent high-profile data breaches, firewalls and end-point security controls aren't enough anymore," notes Philip Liebermam, Founder & President of Lieberman Software, who will be giving a breakout session entitled “Protect Your Government Agency with Backend IT Controls” at SYS-CON's 1st Annual Government IT Conference & Expo (GovITExpo), which will take place on October 6, 2009, at the Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC.
His session will discuss how government IT departments can establish the key elements of the security foundation with minimal disruption to the computing infrastructure, by addressing critical security issues.
Lieberman has 30 years experience in the software industry. He developed the first products for the privileged account password management space, and continues to introduce new solutions to resolve the security threat of common account credentials.
1st Annual Government IT Conference & Expo
Government IT Conference & Expo (GovITExpo.com), which is being held October 6, 2009 in Washington, DC, builds on the success of SYS-CON's Cloud Computing Expo, the fastest-growing conference anywhere in the world devoted to the delivery of massively scalable IT as a service using Internet technologies. Agency CIOs and CTOs need the flexibility to choose the best tools to accomplish their mission regardless of platform. Cloud computing, virtualization, SOA, security and compliance are among the major themes of the technical program.
Top Keynote from the Deputy CIO of the CIA
The Opening Keynote at the 1st GovIT Expo is being given by Jill Tummler Singer, Deputy Chief Information Officer at the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). It is titled "Enterprise Cloud Computing - The Infrastructure’s Ultimate Revenge."
With GovITExpo we widen and broaden our reach to embrace those who are bringing technology into the Federal domain. This high-energy event is a must-attend for senior technologists involved in Government IT at every level including CIOs, CTOs, directors of infrastructure, VPs of technology, IT directors and managers, network and storage managers, network engineers, enterprise architects, and communications and networking specialists.
There are breakout sessions on the security issues that are unique to the Cloud, such as the crucial distinction between Private and Public clouds. Expert speakers from government and the software industry alike will be looking at issues such as the requirements for how companies can handle government information and how information can be most successfully shared by multiple clouds.
Doing more with less is the new reality for most IT departments, and the Government is no exception. So the cost-effectiveness of technologies such as Virtualization are also foremost on the agenda, which you can view by clicking on the middle link below:
